MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT DONATES AMBULANCE
Residents living near the small Kanyezi hospital in Dedza have begun to experience difficulties due to delays in transporting patients to larger hospitals, as their much-needed medical supplies often run out. In response, their member of Parliament Auzious Chidovu has donated an ambulance.
Group Village Head Maliwa stated that the lack of this ambulance has been hindering the provision of essential healthcare services, especially for pregnant women who often face complications while being referred to larger hospitals.
"Women in labor in this area struggle to raise funds to hire bicycles or motorcycles, let alone vehicles, to reach the main Dedza hospital, which is about 40 kilometers away. This makes it difficult for many of them, especially those who are struggling," Maliwa said.
Speaking at the ambulance donation ceremony, Chidovu said her goal is to improve the quality of life for those served by the hospital, including addressing the issue of delayed medical referrals.
Currently, Halima Daud, the second in command at the hospital, praised Chidovu's efforts and commended those working at the hospital for their dedication to ensuring that resources are used effectively.
Chidovu contributed approximately 5 million Kwacha to refurbish the ambulance, which had been idle at the main Dedza hospital for several years due to being in disrepair.
