Challenges Persist in Zomba as Elections Loom

The chief of Nkapita in Zomba district has expressed grave concerns over the impending difficulties for people to travel and vote in the coming election, likening it to the current famine plaguing the nation.

She highlighted the dire situation in Chingale where the maize harvest failed, leaving many without food.

Chief Nkapita made these remarks yesterday at a rally organized by the MCP party in the approval phase, attended by Foster Mtandama.

"The votes are there, but the news is scattered, just like the Tonse government, which promised to rescue Malawians from the ongoing famine," she said.

She also lamented about the state of the Lirangwe-Chingale-Machinga road, which she described as impassable.

The chief believes that the recent challenges have made life difficult in Chingale, especially after nearly 16 years without any road improvements.

Regarding the famine, Mtandama mentioned that the government allocated K400 million in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to assist two affected areas.

Additionally, Mtandama assured that the Tonse Alliance government is committed to addressing the road issue promptly.
