Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, expressed his intention to run in the upcoming elections, confident in his robust health. Mutharika revealed that a recent stress test conducted by a cardiologist affirmed his vitality, stating that he possesses the heart of a 19-year-old.
"I feel very strong recently," Mutharika asserted, "I can assure you that the day I feel that I cannot discharge my duties either as a candidate or president because of my health, I will know and I will quit."
Addressing concerns about his age, Mutharika emphasized his awareness of his physical condition, affirming his readiness to step down should his health deteriorate. https://www.facebook.com/Times360Malawi/videos/2102081003497168/?mibextid=5N0WYUVeg6tIdfMR"I have no intentions of embarrassing myself or my family," he affirmed.
Looking ahead to the campaign period, Mutharika outlined his strategy to commence campaigning six months prior to the 2025 general elections. He cautioned against premature campaigning, noting that initiating the process too early may result in the public forgetting the party's message.
"Distribution of food now is not related to the campaign," Mutharika clarified, "it's just a humanitarian activity. The campaign cannot start now; we are 17 months away from the elections, and people are not going to remember what we are going to tell them."
With his sights set on a return to the presidential position, Mutharika's declaration underscores his confidence in his health and readiness to lead once again.
