NAMIBIAN PRESIDENT HAGE GEINGOB PASSES AWAY AT 82


Namibia's President, Hage Geingob, has succumbed to illness at the age of 82. Vice President Nangolo Mbumba officially announced the news on Sunday morning, revealing that Geingob passed away while undergoing medical treatment for cancer at a Windhoek hospital.

Elected in 2015, his death comes ahead of the country's upcoming general elections scheduled for November this year.

The Malawi government has responded with skepticism to former National Unity Minister Timothy Mtambo's assertion that the Tonse Alliance administration has failed to deliver on its promises after four years in power. Mtambo, who was fired from the cabinet in February 2023, made the remarks at a news conference in Lilongwe on Saturday, claiming that the government has not taken Malawians to the "Promised Land" and urging citizens to take an active role in holding the government accountable.
